Rex Ryan believes Micah Parsons made an “ass” of himself Sunday.
Parsons said he felt worse for the Cowboys’ veterans as the team’s season spirals out of control compared to head coach Mike McCarthy, while also taking a perceived dig at McCarthy’s effort.
“You want to win games and do great things with those type of legends who put in more time and work than Mike McCarthy ever did.
He then went after Parsons for having a podcast, “The Edge with Micah Parsons,” suggesting the platform emboldens him to say controversial things.
“Who the hell Micah Parsons think he is talking like that after a game?
Micah Parsons, in Rex Ryan’s opinion, made a fool of himself on Sunday.
Damien Woody, the former offensive lineman and former Jets coach, attacked the Cowboys star linebacker on Monday’s episode of “Get Up” for remarks he made about Dallas’ coaching staff following Sunday’s 34-6 loss to the Eagles.
In a perceived jab at head coach Mike McCarthy’s work, Parsons stated that he felt worse for the Cowboys’ veterans as the team’s season drifted out of control.
“It’s completely nonsense that you’re going to get some ass—I don’t care how talented he is. You’re giving up family time and a lot of other things in your life. Ryan remarked, “Maybe you could have played every damn game if you had put in half as much work as a damn coach does,” alluding to Parsons’ recent injury that kept him out of action for four games. Perhaps, unlike you, your team wouldn’t be a bunch of punks who lay down every week. Instead, you’re going to sell your damn coach out and become a damn football team. What do you know? It’s a crock of sh. “.”.
The Cowboys are not going anywhere under McCarthy, and it appears that he will be coaching for the last time as Dallas is currently 3-6 and Dak Prescott’s season may be finished.
Even though the players are aware that this might be McCarthy’s last game, Parsons’ remarks regarding his coach’s future following Sunday’s defeat caused some eyebrows to shoot up.
After the Cowboys’ lopsided playoff loss to the Packers at home last season, they controversially decided to keep McCarthy, who is in the final year of his contract.
Assuming Mike coaches again the following season, Parsons remarked, “That’s above my pay grade.”. “Mike is free to go wherever he desires, coaching or not. I wanted to hold the trophy for guys like [guard] Zack Martin and those who might be close to the end of their career, so I feel bad for them.
“With legends who have worked harder and put in more time than Mike McCarthy ever did, you want to win games and accomplish great things.”. I therefore feel a great deal of hurt and sympathy for those kinds of guys. “.”.
Ryan, who was fired by the Jets in late 2014 and went on to coach the Bills, demonstrated that he could still use his fastball when necessary by hitting Parsons.
Ryan did not like the statement that McCarthy’s investment was inferior to others.
“That is complete bullshit,” Ryan remarked. “Coaches are present for at least two or three days a week, sometimes for twenty hours each day. Their work ethic is unparalleled. Mike McCarthy isn’t deserving of this offensive remark. No, he does not. Not a single coach does. Even though there are some terrible coaches in the world, none of them are deserving of this because of the amount of work they do as coaches. “.”.
After a game, Woody, who spent 12 years playing for the Patriots, Jets, and Lions, claimed he had never heard a player say anything like that.
After that, he attacked Parsons for hosting a podcast called “The Edge with Micah Parsons,” implying that the platform gives him the confidence to say things that are controversial.
“Who the hell does Micah Parsons think he is talking like that after a game? Bro, you have been missing all these games due to injury, and the last time I looked, the head coach is a Super Bowl-winning coach. I know the season hasn’t gone as planned and all that, but for you to sit in the locker room right after your team loses and just undress your coaching in that way— see, that’s what’s going on with all these podcast boys out here in the locker room,” Woody said. They want to say and spout all of this stuff.
After that, Woody made a comparison between the players of today and those of the past.
Because it was ultimately about us, there used to be a modicum of decorum and respect in the locker room. Not enough was done by us. He said, “All of you got your asses kicked, okay.”. “You’re going to go out here and talk about your head coach, essentially saying that he isn’t working or trying to get the team ready. I think that’s a bunch of bullshit, man.
“We may sit here in shock and laugh and all that, but it’s disrespectful what Micah Parsons did to Mike McCarthy in that situation because, once more, I know that the results aren’t what he wants, but I also know that the man is working extremely hard every day to try to win, and here one of your best players comes out there and says, come on, man, I can’t ride with that.”. “”.
