Hotel chain denies reselling rooms booked by Oasis fans A hotel chain has been accused of trying to cash in on Oasis shows next year by cancelling bookings customers had made before the reunion tour was announced.
Lily Stroud from Newcastle said she “took a risk ” by reserving rooms on two weekends at a Maldron Hotel in Manchester in July 2025 after speculation about the band’s return.
But the hotel chain cancelled her bookings after the tour announcement due to a “technical error”, with the same rooms now listed as unavailable.
The chain, which has two hotels in Manchester – the Maldron Hotel Manchester City and Maldron Hotel Cathedral Quarter – said all reservations made before 26 August would be honoured.
Oasis are set to play at Heaton Park in Manchester on 11, 12 ,19 and 20 July.
The hotel said a technical error with bookings made on Monday and Tuesday led to “substantially more rooms booked” than were available on the dates of the concerts.
Another hotel listed rooms at about £600 for the gig weekends, compared to about £240 for the weekend after the 19 July 2025 gig.
The hotel then emailed her and scores of other fans after the tour was announced to say the bookings had been unsuccessful.
The 26-year-old said she rang the Maldron Hotel directly, and was told initially her booking was still on the system, before later being told it could not be found.

Hotel chain disputes selling rooms that fans of Oasis have reserved.

Customers’ reservations for Oasis shows next year have been canceled by a hotel chain, which has been accused of trying to profit from the announcement of the reunion tour.

When rumors of the band’s reunion circulated in July 2025, Lily Stroud of Newcastle said she “took a risk” and reserved rooms for two weekends at the Maldron Hotel in Manchester.

But following the tour announcement, the hotel chain canceled her reservations citing a “technical error,” and the same rooms are now marked as unavailable.

Maldron Hotels refuted any attempt to “resell rooms at inflated prices,” saying that there was “an overbooking issue” at two of its locations.

According to Sacha Lord, Greater Manchester’s nighttime economy adviser, several people had contacted him with complaints regarding the chain.

All reservations made before August 26th would be honored, according to the chain, which operates two hotels in Manchester: the Maldron Hotel Cathedral Quarter and the Maldron Hotel Manchester City.

The Gallagher brothers confirmed dates in London, Manchester, Cardiff, Edinburgh, and Dublin as part of Oasis’ 2025 reunion tour, which the band announced on Tuesday.

The day before, after the band uploaded a picture of a date that said “27.08,” rumors started to circulate. 24″ on their networks.

On July 11, 12, 19, and 20, Oasis will perform at Manchester’s Heaton Park.

The hotel claimed that “substantially more rooms booked” than were available on the dates of the concerts were the result of a technical error with reservations made on Monday and Tuesday.

He said that later on Tuesday, “a small number of customers” were able to book rooms at a higher price due to the same issue, and these bookings would also be canceled.

The hotel has apologized and isn’t accepting any more bookings while it looks into the issue.

It follows Mr. Lord’s demand that the hotel “do the right thing” in response to multiple complaints.

Several unhappy customers on X had contacted Mr. Lord, he said; some claimed their reservations had been canceled by the hotel and were “now back up for three times the price.”.

On Wednesday, the cost of several hotels in Manchester for the weekends of the Oasis concerts was nearly twice as much as it was for the weeks prior and following.

Rooms for the Heaton Park shows cost around £750 on the hotel’s website, while the closest other weekends’ rates were roughly £350.

About £600 was the price that another hotel listed rooms for during the gig weekends, while about £240 was listed for the weekend following the 19 July 2025 gig.

“Stressful.”.

Ms. Stroud, who called herself a “massive” fan of Oasis, said that she and her mother reserved the Manchester hotel on Sunday after finding a list of possible dates for the reunion tour floating around the internet.

“We figured, since we know the demand would be like, if it’s free cancellation, why not?” the woman remarked.

Subsequent to the tour’s announcement, the hotel informed her via email, along with many other fans, that the reservations had not gone through.

When the 26-year-old called the Maldron Hotel directly, she was first informed that her reservation was still on the system, but she was later informed that it was not there.

“We kind of expected it,” she admitted, calling herself “frustrated” because “it’s stressful enough that you have to worry about getting tickets.”.

Emma Cough, 37, of Ulverston, Cumbria, had made two reservations prior to the tour announcement and had also encountered issues with the Maldron’s booking system.

She argued, “It’s ridiculous; they must have known how many rooms they had.”.

“People are upset that they took this early action. It’s unjust. “.

In addition, 37-year-old David O’Gorman reserved a room at the Maldron for July 20, 2025, at 8:03 a.m. on Tuesday, hoping to score a ticket to Oasis’ performance in Manchester that evening.

But on Tuesday at 8:15 p.m., he received an email from the hotel informing him that his reservation had failed due to a technical issue.

“I opened Booking . com the minute I saw that email from the hotel, and the exact same room I booked is now around £350, so there’s no technical error there,” stated Mr. O’Gorman, an Irish resident from County Meath. “.”.

He declared himself to be in “limbo” and continued, saying that he would most likely be unable to purchase the ticket because he would also need to arrange for a flight at that time.

“I tried to be ahead of the curve, so I feel really frustrated and unfairly treated. I thought going to Manchester to see them would be incredible because I’m a huge fan but have never had the opportunity to see them live. ****.

“No rationale.”.

After learning that the hotel reservations he had made in anticipation of attending a wedding in Manchester the following year had been canceled, George Snape expressed his disappointment and his anger.

“I believe they were merely raising the Oasis prices,” he remarked.

BBC Radio Manchester was informed by Manchester City councillor Pat Karney that the incident would be looked into by council officials.

“If this is true, they have failed both Manchester and themselves,” he remarked.

“We’re not fools; we understand that costs will be high as long as hotel guests behave fairly.

“Taking advantage of people has no justification. “.

Hull resident Dan, 37, said he made his reservation at the Hazeldean Hotel in Salford, which provided free cancellation prior to the announcement. However, he claims he was informed he would need to pay in full by Friday, the day before Oasis tickets go on sale.

How equitable is this, and given that I’m not sure if I’ll receive tickets, how am I meant to pay for it?

“I’m positive they’re only doing this to get the opportunity to cancel and then resell for more money. “.

A request for comments has been made to the Hazeldean Hotel.
