After a poorly received experiment in Las Vegas, the American Film Market is heading back to Los Angeles for its 2025 edition.
AFM 2025 will run November 11-16 at the Fairmont Century Plaza in Century City, just beside Beverly Hills.
“Our return to LA holds special significance in the aftermath of the recent devastating fires,” said Jean M. Prewitt and Clay Epstein, the CEO and Chairperson, respectively, of the Independent Film & Television Alliance, which organizes AFM.
“[Fairmont Century Plaza] is ideally situated just minutes from Beverly Hills, West Hollywood, and Westwood and next door to the AMC Century City 15 for screenings,” the IFTA statement said.
“Your feedback has underscored the importance of AFM as a gathering space and of Los Angeles as the optimal location,” the IFTA added in its statement, referencing the industry outcry that followed last year’s Vegas experiment.
For its 2025 edition, the American Film Market is returning to Los Angeles following a poorly received experiment in Las Vegas.
The Fairmont Century Plaza in Century City, next to Beverly Hills, will host AFM 2025 from November 11–16.
Jean M. Prewitt and Clay Epstein, the CEO and Chairperson of the Independent Film and Television Alliance, which is responsible for organizing AFM, stated that their return to Los Angeles is especially meaningful in light of the recent devastating fires. Reuniting as colleagues here, where AFM began, and contributing to the reconstruction of the city that serves as a crucial hub for our industry will be encouraging. “.”.
International film buyers and sellers are likely to applaud the return to Hollywood. Many of them expressed dissatisfaction with the 24-hour noise and somewhat surreal and off-putting atmosphere of the previous year’s market, which was held inside the Palms Casino off the Vegas strip, far from the center of the LA film industry.
The AMC Century City 15 for screenings is next door to [Fairmont Century Plaza], which is perfectly located near Beverly Hills, West Hollywood, and Westwood, according to the IFTA statement. The recently remodeled Fairmont offers the ideal balance of accessibility, amenities, prestige, and cost that is in line with recent years. “.”.
This is AFM’s third relocation in as many years. In 2023, the company was forced to relocate from its long-standing location in Santa Monica’s Loews hotel to the less-than-ideal Le Méridien Delfina up the hill. This was followed by the trip to Vegas.
In reference to the industry outcry that followed last year’s Vegas experiment, the IFTA added in its statement, “Your feedback has underscored the importance of AFM as a gathering space and of Los Angeles as the optimal location.”. “The Fairmont provides the area that best meets your need for a sophisticated environment that optimizes convenience and promotes efficiency. “.”.
AFM stated that information regarding its 2025 plans and agenda will be available soon.
