After executing a search warrant at the home of a missing Manassas Park woman, police announced Wednesday that Mamta Kafle’s husband is a person of interest.
City of Manassas Park Chief of Police Mario Lugo told reporters that Kafle’s husband, Naresh Bhatt, is not cooperating with the investigation.
FOX 5 has been following the search for 28-year-old Mamta Kafle for weeks.
The young mother was last seen at her home in Manassas Park on July 31.
Manassas Park Police say their investigation into her disappearance began on Aug. 2 when one of Kafle’s co-workers asked officers to conduct a welfare check after she did not show up for her shift at the hospital.

When asked why he waited to report her missing, Bhatt told FOX 5 he thought he was following the instructions of police when they spoke Friday and that he reported it once efforts to find her had been exhausted.
Bhatt told FOX 5’s Nana Sento-Bonsu that the experience has been an emotional rollercoaster.
Police said on Wednesday that Mamta Kafle’s husband is a person of interest following the execution of a search warrant at the residence of a woman who went missing in Manassas Park.
Mario Lugo, the chief of police of Manassas Park, informed the media that Kafle’s spouse, Naresh Bhatt, is not participating in the investigation.
In connection with this case, our investigators have carried out more than ten search warrants and hundreds of interviews. This includes the search warrant we carried out this evening, according to Chief Lugo. “Every lead is being followed up on by my staff, who keep working nonstop.”. In addition, Lugo stated that detectives will continue to meet weekly [or daily] with the Nepalese community, as they have done previously.
According to Lugo, the police department is currently getting forensic assistance.
The home was heavily patrolled by police earlier in the day, as observed by the neighbors.
The 28-year-old Mamta Kafle has been the subject of weeks of follow-up by FOX 5. The young mother was last observed on July 31 at her Manassas Park residence.
Since then, she has been the focus of an intense search by the police, her family, and community members.
According to Manassas Park Police, her disappearance was investigated starting on August. 2. After Kafle failed to arrive for her shift at the hospital, one of her coworkers requested that police perform a welfare check.

Her spouse informed the police that she wasn’t missing when they arrived at the house. Later, on August 5, after several days had passed and she still hadn’t returned home, he made the decision to file a missing person’s report.
When asked why he didn’t report her missing sooner, Bhatt told FOX 5 that he believed he was doing as police had instructed when they spoke on Friday and that he only reported it after all other options for finding her had been explored.
Bhatt described the experience as an emotional rollercoaster to Nana Sento-Bonsu of FOX 5.
“I’m extremely exhausted. Physically, psychologically, and financially weary and exhausted. I’m in agony,” he declared. “My pain is severe. “.”.
