12 measles cases have been reported in Colorado so far this year, the most the state has seen in a single year since at least 1996.

One of the most infectious illnesses that can infect people is measles, which can linger in the air for up to two hours. Those who went to an exposure site should keep an eye out for symptoms for three weeks.

A fever, cough, runny nose, and red eyes are among the first signs. It usually takes four days after someone becomes contagious for the red facial rash to appear.

Before seeking medical attention, anyone who visited an exposure site and starts experiencing symptoms should give their provider a call so that other patients can be protected.
