It has been such an amazing pleasure to bring Duke to life through [series creator] Rachael [New]’s exquisite, brilliant writing, and to get to play him for the past four years,” Stuart said in a statement. However, as the show develops and grows, it seemed appropriate for Scarlet to take on new challenges and stories for the time being. I am thrilled to continue following Eliza and her adventures as a devoted fan and recently enrolled Scarleteer, but I will miss working with my incredible partner in crime Kate and the rest of our incredible family and team.
“I know Eliza will miss her Duke, and I will miss working with my friend Stu every day, but I believe the best is still to come for her. Fans will be thrilled to see what we have planned for Season 5, Kate continued.
To help Miss Scarlet with her responsibilities, they cast a new character, Alexander Blake, whose actor is revealed here.
Tonight is PBS Masterpiece’s premiere of the new season.
