Netflix finally announced that Bridgerton star Charithra Chandran will join the live-action One Piece season two cast as Miss Wednesday, or Alabasta’s wayward princess Vivi Nefertani.
Despite creator Eiichiro Oda publicizing season two not reaching the anime’s next major arc, Alabasta, Netflix’s recent casting announcements suggest the live-action series is continuing the first season’s timeline tweaks.
As mentioned earlier, Netflix’s casting of Miss Wednesday and Nefertani Cobra hint that the live-action adaptation will continue playing with timeline events, the way One Piece‘s first season did with Luffy’s grandfather, Admiral Garp (Vincent Regan).
Garp isn’t introduced until later in the anime, but the Netflix series portrays him as a major player in the show’s first season.
By introducing him way earlier, the live-action series hit two birds with one stone by showcasing Garp and Marine recruit Koby (Morgan Davies)’s relationship as the season’s emotional anchor.
A similar scenario might be at play with One Piece season two, considering Nefertani Cobra isn’t introduced until after the Drum Island arc, where the season will conclude.
Time will tell whether One Piece‘s second season, due in 2025, will see breadcrumbs of Vivi and Cobra’s relationship fleshed out like Garp and Koby’s was.

The casting of Bridgerton, which stars Charithra Chandran, has finally been revealed by Netflix. She will play Miss Wednesday, Alabasta’s lost princess Vivi Nefertani, in the live-action One pc\. season two cast. Chandran has joined actor Sendhil Ramamurthy, who portrays Nefertari Cobra, Vivi’s father. Though Netflix’s recent casting announcements imply the live-action series is continuing the first season’s timeline tweaks, creator Eiichiro Oda publicly stated that season two would not reach the anime’s next major arc, Alabasta.
As previously indicated, Miss Wednesday and Nefertani Cobra’s casting on Netflix suggests that the live-action adaptation will keep experimenting with timeline events, much like the first season of One pc\. did with Admiral Garp (Vincent Regan), Luffy’s grandfather. While Garp isn’t introduced until much later in the anime, he plays a significant role in the first season of the Netflix series. The live-action series accomplished two goals at once by introducing him much earlier and highlighting the relationship between Garp and Marine recruit Koby (Morgan Davies), which serves as the season’s emotional focal point. Not to be confused with an off-screen relationship that grew throughout the anime.
Nefertani Cobra isn’t introduced until after the Drum Island arc, which is where the season ends, so a similar situation might be at play with One pc\. season two. It remains to be seen if hints of Vivi and Cobra’s relationship will be developed further, akin to what happened with Garp and Koby, in One pc\.’s upcoming second season, which airs in 2025.
The official Netflix synopsis for One pc\., which is based on the phenomenally popular manga series, reads as follows: “Monkey D. Luffy is a young adventurer who has yearned for a life of freedom since he can remember.”. Starting from his small village, Luffy embarks on a perilous journey to find the fabled treasure, One pc\., in order to become the King of the Pirates! However, before he can find a ship to sail, he must first assemble the crew he’s always wanted. Then, he must outrun the Marines and outsmart dangerous rivals at every turn in order to retrieve the ultimate prize. “.
One pc\.’s most recent news follows the announcement that Mark Harelik will play Dr. Hiriluk and Katey Segal will play Dr. Kureha in season two. Variety also notes that the Netflix anime adaptation now stars Daniel Lasker, Camrus Johnson, Jazzara Jaslyn, David Dastmalchian, Werner Coetser, Brendan Murray, Clive Russell, Callum Kerr, Julia Rehwald, Rob Colletti, and Ty Keogh. Iñaki Godoy plays Monkey D. Luffy in the main cast, which also includes Mackenyu as Zoro, Emily Rudd as Nami, Jacob Romero as Usopp, Taz Skylar as Sanji, Jeff Ward as Buggy, and Michael Dorman as Gold Roger.
