A few weeks ago, the thought of an awards show in Los Angeles, where entire neighborhoods went up in flames, seemed unthinkable.
Finally, the 67th annual Grammy Awards are here. It seemed unimaginable just a few weeks ago that an awards ceremony in Los Angeles would cause whole neighborhoods to catch fire. Here we are, however, after the Recording Academy resisted significant pressure to postpone or even cancel the show due to the devastating wildfires this month.
Live from Crypto . com Arena in L. 1. Music’s Biggest Night, which is hosted by Trevor Noah, will air live on Sunday, February. 2) at 8:00 p.m. A. 5 p.m. ET. A. PT airs on CBS. Additionally, Paramount+ will stream the program both live and on demand.
The show this year will highlight up-and-coming performers. Benson Boone, Teddy Swims, Raye, Shaboozey, Doechii, Chappell Roan, and Sabrina Carpenter—seven of this year’s top new artist nominees—will all be performing. (The performance schedule for Khruangbin, the eighth best new artist nominee, is still pending). ().
Other artists on the telecast include Shakira, Charli XCX, Lady Gaga, Bruno Mars, and Billie Eilish, who won best new artist five years ago. Gaga and Mars will give “a special tribute to the city of Los Angeles and those affected by the wildfires,” according to the academy’s social media announcements on Friday. “”.
Among the top nominees who have not yet been revealed as performers are Taylor Swift (with or without Post Malone), Kendrick Lamar, and Beyoncé. With 11 nominations this year, Beyoncé led the field. Her most recent Grammy performance was in 2017. Swift last appeared on the show in 2021 and was nominated six times. They will attend the show, but they won’t be performing, according to a CBS promotional campaign.
The Grammy telecast last featured Lamar, who has seven nominations, opening the show alongside comedian Dave Chappelle and U2. Lamar is scheduled to be the main act at the Super Bowl halftime show in February, so a Grammy performance this year is unlikely. 9.
The telecast this year will have an extra goal: to raise money for L. A. aiding in the fight against wildfires and celebrating the courage and commitment of first responders. The show will be highlighted by a number of special performances, such as the yearly In Memoriam segment, tributes to the spirit of Los Angeles, and a celebration of the life and legacy of Grammy legend Quincy Jones.
Swift, the 2024 Grammy Awards’ album of the year winner, and Victoria Monét, the show’s best new artist, will both be presenting this year. Additional presenters were revealed on Friday and include Cardi B, Gloria Estefan, Olivia Rodrigo, Queen Latifah, SZA, Will Smith, Anthony Kiedis, and Chad Smith of the Red Hot Chili Peppers.
Jones will receive the salute from Smith. Jones served as executive producer of The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air, a popular sitcom that aired on NBC from 1990 to 1996 and helped make Smith famous.
Jones, who won 28 Grammys in six different decades, from the 1960s to the 2010s, passed away in November at the age of 91. Generations of gifted artists, including Herbie Hancock, Stevie Wonder, John Legend, and Jacob Collier—all of whom will be on the show—were friends and mentors of his.
Noah has been the show’s host for five years running. He will host the Grammy Awards five times, making him the first comedian to do so. For Where Was I, he is also a Grammy nominee for best comedy album. He would be only the second Grammy host to win on a night they hosted if he or she prevailed. The first was Kenny Rogers, in 1980.
For the fourth consecutive year, Fulwell 73 Productions will produce the 67th Annual Grammy Awards on behalf of the Recording Academy. Executive producers are Jesse Collins, Raj Kapoor, and Ben Winston.
The vast majority of this year’s Grammys will be presented at the premiere ceremony, which will be streamed live at 3:30 p.m. M. ET at 12:30 p.m. M. The Grammy website and the Recording Academy’s YouTube channel both feature PT. The performance will take place at the Peacock Theater, part of the LA Live complex in Los Angeles, which also includes the Arena.
