SAG Awards Nominations: ‘Wicked’ & ‘A Complete Unknown’ Lead Film Field; ‘Shōgun’ Tops TV

Nominations for the 2025 SAG Awards were unveiled this morning, after the group’s scheduled in-person announcement was canceled amid the unfolding wildfire tragedy in Los Angeles.

Vying for the marquee film ensemble category are the casts of A Complete Unknown, Anora, Conclave, Emilia Pérez and Wicked.
Overall, Wicked leads the film field with five nominations, followed by A Complete Unknown with four and Anora and Emilia Pérez with three each.
In TV, last year’s series ensemble winners were Succession — with a leading five noms in its final season — in Drama and The Bear for Comedy.

This morning, the 2025 SAG Awards nominations were announced, following the cancellation of the group’s planned in-person announcement due to the ongoing wildfire tragedy in Los Angeles. The complete list is shown below, along with a breakdown of nominations by TV series and movie.

The casts of Wicked, Anora, Conclave, Emilia Pérez, and A Complete Unknown are competing for the marquee film ensemble category.

Golden Globe winner Adrien Brody (The Brutalist), Timothée Chalamet (A Complete Unknown), Daniel Craig (Queer), Colman Domingo (Sing Sing), and Ralph Fiennes (Conclave) are contestants for the lead actor award.

Mikey Madison (Anora), Demi Moore (The Substance), Cynthia Erivo (Wicked), Karla Sofía Gascón (Emilia Pérez), and Pamela Anderson (The Last Showgirl) are the front-runners for the lead female actor position.

A Complete Unknown has four nominations, Anora and Emilia Pérez have three each, and Wicked has five, leading the film field overall.

The TV series that are competing in the Ensemble in a Drama Series are Slow Horses, Bridgerton, The Diplomat, The Day of the Jackal, and Shōgun. Abbott Elementary, Only Murders in the Building, Hacks, The Bear, and Shrinking are the contenders for the Comedy Series.

Ahead of the 31st annual SAG Awards on February 23 at the Shrine Auditorium and Expo Hall in Los Angeles, Trophies in 15 categories—six in film and nine in television—will be up for grabs. The event will stream live on Netflix.

Jane Fonda will be presented with the SAG Life Achievement Award at the ceremony, which will be hosted by Kristen Bell.

The Golden Globes on Sunday, where films like Emilia Pérez and The Brutalist cemented their positions in the kudos conversation, marked the beginning of awards season, and today’s nominations follow suit. At the SAG Awards, where Oppenheimer, the eventual Best Picture Oscar winner, received the Outstanding Ensemble trophy—the guild’s close substitute for Best Picture—last year, they hope to keep up their momentum.

Four of the last five Ensemble Film winners have gone on to win Best Picture, demonstrating how well the SAG Awards have been predicting the Oscars lately. Cillian Murphy, Da’Vine Joy Randolph, and Robert Downey Jr. were three of the four actors who won last year. — also took home Oscars for their respective categories.

Last year’s TV series ensemble winners were The Bear for Comedy and Succession, which had a top five nominations in its last season.
