Oscar De La Hoya responds to the first statement released after the loss

Precise News

Devin Haney and Oscar De La Hoya aren’t on the same page when it comes to Ryan Garcia.
“King Ryan” won a thrilling majority decision over Haney this past Saturday, rocking the WBC super lightweight champion and nearly scoring a knockout on multiple occasions.
Unfortunately for Garcia, he was ineligible to win Haney’s title due to an egregious weight miss, a mistake that slightly mars what an otherwise incredible performance.
On Wednesday, Haney posted his first statement to Instagram since losing his unbeaten record.
He pointed out the weight discrepancy and then called for Garcia to run it back with him in the future.
Haney thanked De La Hoya in the statement, but that didn’t seem to win over the Golden Boy Promotions boss as he replied in the comments that Garcia will not rematch Haney.
“Good luck with [Matchroom Boxing Chairman Eddie Hearn], but there will not be a rematch,” De La Hoya wrote.
“Good luck in your career and good luck with Eddie, a European promoter trying to make it in the U.S.”

NEUTRAL

There is disagreement between Devin Haney and Oscar De La Hoya regarding Ryan Garcia.

This past Saturday, “King Ryan” defeated Haney via an exciting majority decision, shocking the WBC super lightweight champion and coming dangerously close to multiple knockouts. Regrettably, Garcia’s spectacular performance was somewhat spoiled by an egregious weight miss that disqualified him from winning Haney’s title.

Haney shared his first statement to Instagram on Wednesday, the day he lost his unbeaten record. After pointing out the disparity in weight, he asked Garcia to go back and try it again later.

Let me say this first. Thank God, Allah has the most perfect plan, and I always have faith in it. I was unsuccessful in this boxing match, but anyone who knows me knows that I am a real competitor who has always aspired to compete against the world’s top fighters.

It’s okay because Ryan won that evening despite the circumstances. Although I believe my weight had a part in it, only Allah knows. Giving the fans a FAIR fight within a predetermined weight would be my dream come true.

And with that, let me say… I am currently making up my Ramadan days while spending time with my family and friends. My sincere gratitude goes out to all of my supporters and everyone who helped make this event possible. I’ll let you know what happens next once I’ve completed making up my lost Ramadan days.

Although Haney expressed his gratitude to De La Hoya in the statement, the head of Golden Boy Promotions seemed unimpressed, responding in the comments that Garcia would not challenge Haney again.

There won’t be a rematch, but good luck with [Matchroom Boxing Chairman Eddie Hearn], De La Hoya wrote. “Good luck with Eddie, the European promoter attempting to break through in the U.S.A., and with your career as well. S. “.
