EXCLUSIVE: Netflix has elevated two VP-level development executives, Michael Azzolino and Nne Ebong, with new or expanded responsibilities.
European-based Netflix Azzolino is moving back to the US to become VP, Scripted Drama Series Development.
Starting his new job in July, Azzolino will report to Jinny Howe, Netflix’s VP of Drama Series.
Ebong, who has been leading the Netflix studio team as VP, Overall Deals, is being upped to VP, Studio Scripted Series.
Prior to that, she spent 12 years ar ABC Studios, rising to SVP of Drama Development.
EXCLUSIVE: Michael Azzolino and Nne Ebong, two VP-level development executives at Netflix, have been promoted to new positions with additional powers.
Azzolino from Netflix, a European company, is returning to the US to take a position as VP, Scripted Drama Series Development. When Azzolino begins his new position in July, he will answer to Netflix’s VP of Drama Series, Jinny Howe. He will assume the duties that Howe had before she was elevated to manage the streamer’s whole drama portfolio a year ago. Several executives from outside Netflix were considered for the prestigious position, which had been open for nearly a year.
The Netflix studio team has been led by Ebong, who was promoted to VP, Studio Scripted Series from VP, Overall Deals. She currently reports to Howe and is in charge of the creation and development of all in-house series and franchises. She has also expanded her responsibilities to include projects based on Netflix-owned intellectual property, such as the Roald Dahl catalog.
Howe answers to the US and Canadian VP of Scripted Series, Peter Friedlander.
It is Azzolino’s first time back in the United States. S. After more than ten and a half years of employment at the drama series marketplace, the American executive joined Netflix in 2018 as VP, Content, Benrlux/CEE/Turkey, based in the Netherlands.
Before that, he spent two years in Los Angeles as the EVP of Creative Affairs for ITV Studios America. During his eleven and a half years as SVP at Jerry Bruckheimer TV, he worked on a number of shows, including the drama series Lucifer, which found a second home and achieved worldwide success on Netflix.
After starting his career at NBC, Azzolino went on to work for WB Television Network before shifting to CBS Productions as Director, Drama Series.
Ebong was the Creative Lead at an independent studio called Wiip prior to joining Netflix in November 2020. She was SVP of Drama Development at ABC Studios for 12 years before that.
