A lawsuit was filed on Monday accusing author Neil Gaiman of raping his former babysitter on multiple occasions. The accusations were first made in a podcast by Tortoise Media last year.

Scarlett Pavlovich also filed a lawsuit against Amanda Palmer, Gaiman’s wife, claiming that when she hired Pavlovich to work for them, she was aware of his history of sexual misconduct. Palmer and Gaiman are both charged with human trafficking in the lawsuit.

Because they knew Pavlovich was poor and had mental health problems, Gaiman and Palmer are accused of taking advantage of her. When she started working for them as a live-in nanny, the couple resided in different homes on Waiheke Island, which is close to Auckland, New Zealand.

Pavlovich claims that Gaiman sexually assaulted her several times over the course of the following few months. According to the lawsuit, he also choked her, belted her, referred to her as his “slave,” and insisted that he refer to her as his “master.”.

“Gaiman had numerous nonconsensual sexual acts with Scarlett,” according to the lawsuit. Scarlett put up with those cruel and humiliating acts because she was threatened with termination from her job, housing, and future career support if she didn’t. “”.

The lawsuit alleges that Gaiman’s reputation as a feminist led her to believe that he was trustworthy at first. According to Pavlovich’s admission at the end, she was suicidal and required hospitalization at a mental health facility.

Pavlovich was among eight women who made accusations in a story published in New York Magazine last month.

Since the accusations first surfaced last summer, Gaiman, a prolific writer-producer and author of novels and comic books, has been removed from a number of projects. The second season of his Netflix series, “The Sandman,” is scheduled to premiere this year.

In a post titled “Breaking the Silence” on his website, Gaiman refuted the accusations.

He wrote, “Although I’m not a perfect person, I have never had sex with someone against their will.”. “Ever… “”.

Admitting to being “selfish,” Gaiman expressed regret for his “carelessness with people’s hearts and feelings.”. However, he insisted that it never went too far in the direction of abuse.

“A number of the terrible tales that are currently being told have been so twisted from the truth that they have no connection to reality, while others have just never happened,” he wrote.
