UPDATED: The federal lawsuit that Jonathan Majors’ ex-girlfriend Grace Jabbari filed accusing him of assault and defamation has been dropped, according to a confirmation from Deadline on Thursday.

The lawsuit was first filed in March in a federal court in New York, less than a month before Majors was found guilty of two misdemeanor counts of reckless assault and harassment and given a probationary sentence.

The punishment was the culmination of a year-long downward spiral for Majors, which started on March 25, 2023, when the actor was arrested for domestic abuse by New York City police. Hours after a heated argument between the actor and Jabbari in their chauffeured vehicle late at night in downtown Manhattan descended into violence, the actor was arrested.

Earlier, March 19, 2024: Jonathan Majors, the heavily accused former Marvel actor, was sued for defamation by his ex-girlfriend less than a month before he was given a probationary sentence in his domestic violence trial in April.

Grace Jabbari has also included detailed information about alleged instances of “both verbal and physical abuse” from Majors in a filing in federal court in New York.

A COMPLAINT OF DEFAMATION AGAINST JONATHAN MAJORS CAN BE READ HERE.

Almost from the beginning of the couple’s relationship in 2021, when Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania was being filmed in the UK, Majors was involved in a string of allegedly angry incidents, according to the multi-damages-seeking civil complaint. Events that were only alluded to during Majors’ trial last year turn graphic in a series of assaults, “derogatory names,” broken headphones, and self-recrimination.

Majors got upset with Grace in July 2022 while they were in Los Angeles, California. She tried to soothe him out of instinct when she felt scared. After yelling in Grace’s face, Majors seized both of her arms and pinned them to her body. The shower door then opened after he pushed her into it. Her head then struck the shower wall after he flung her body into it.

Things got out of hand when Grace attempted to flee. When Grace told Majors that she would have to tell his team about what he had done to her in an attempt to stop the abuse, Majors started hurling candles and other items in a fit of rage, breaking glass on the floor and denting the wall. Majors acknowledged that he “threw it all on the ground and completely lost my temper in that moment” during his interview with ABC. I did something that I wouldn’t want my child to do. Of course I did. “”.

A jury of three men and three women found Majors not guilty of intentional assault in the third degree and aggravated harassment in the second degree against then-girlfriend Jabbari in the incident last spring. Majors was arrested on March 25, 2023, following the alleged assault on Jabbari in New York City. Majors was found guilty in December of reckless assault and harassment . up against a total of four misdemeanor charges.

Majors strongly denied attacking the British dancer after she found texts from another woman on his phone while they were being driven through the Big Apple late that weekend night last year. This denial was made both before and after the much-delayed trial’s start. Actually, Majors was the target of racism by the NYPD and abuse by Jabbari, according to lawyer Priya Chaudhry. One of the more courteous reactions was when the Magazine Dreams star actually sued Jabbari and had a de facto arrest warrant issued by the police for the British national.

According to today’s filing for defamation, malicious prosecution, and other charges, “When publicly confronted with Grace’s numerous allegations of abuse, Majors has called her a liar at every turn and very specifically claimed that he has never put his hands on a woman, with the goal of convincing the world that Grace is not a victim of domestic abuse but instead a crazy liar who should be treated as such.”.

Of course, despite Majors’s statement to ABC News in a January sit-down this year that “my hands have never struck a woman,” the texts and recordings that were shockingly revealed during last year’s trial (partly because of the defense’s overreach) clearly show otherwise, as do later claims made by other women and today’s filing. Except for Majors pleading with Jabbari not to visit a hospital following one of these attacks, we were largely unaware of the details of those earlier occurrences until today.

Holding someone with this much fame and influence accountable requires real courage, Jabbari’s attorney Brittany Henderson said in a statement today. “Grace Jabbari has shown courage throughout the entire legal process.”. We firmly believe that by taking this action, transparency and the truth will grant Grace the justice she is due. “.”.

After today’s filing was made public, Chaudhry stated, “This is not surprising.”. Mr. The point of Jabbari’s filing was essentially confirmed when she added, “Ms. Dot Jabbari is preparing counterclaims against Majors.”. Majors’ criminal trial was successfully prosecuted by the Manhattan District Attorney’s office, which declined to comment on the new lawsuit.
