Enigma Variations follows the life of a man named Paul, whose passions are just as intense and lustful in his adult life as they were in his youth, according to the official synopsis. Whether it’s a snowbound campus in New England, where his unwavering love for a girl he will see repeatedly over the years is interspersed with anonymous encounters with men, whether he’s on a tennis court in Central Park or on a sidewalk in early spring in New York, or southern Italy, where as a boy he has a crush on his parents’ cabinetmaker. Paul’s attachments are incomprehensible, fleeting, and always supported by unadulterated desire. Paul’s regrets, fears, denials, and hopes are always waiting to set their traps before he takes a step. However, the fantasy of love endures. Our desires might not always be clear to us. We might continue to baffle both ourselves and other people. Eventually, though, we find out who we’ve always known. “.”.

We are told that White will play Paul.

The show is produced by Media Res. The roles of writer, executive producer, and showrunner will be filled by Amanda Kate Shuman. The director and executive producer will be Oliver Hermanus. Aciman and White will work together as executive producers.
