IndieWire attended the New York City premiere of “Adam Sandler: Love You” on Tuesday, August 20.
Following “Adam Sandler: 100% Fresh” from 2018, the actor and comedian returns to Netflix for his latest stand-up special, directed by none other than Josh Safdie.
Reuniting with one of his “Uncut Gems” directors, Sandler told IndieWire that being directed by Safdie for this special was a very, very collaborative experience.
“Right when he became a part of it, he had thought after thought, and I thought I was just going to do a standard stand up special.
The actor was set to star alongside Megan Thee Stallion in the untitled Netflix film co-written by the Safdie Bros. Josh Safdie was set to solo direct the film, set in the world of sports memorabilia.
“We kind of missed the opportunity of baseball season because of the strike,” Sandler said last November.
I’m not sure when it’s gonna happen.” At the premiere for his new comedy special, Sandler is hopeful that the film isn’t dead in the water yet.
“I saw Adam [Sandler] about two weeks ago, and he says to me, ‘McDonald, you’re going to love this,’” McDonald said.

On Tuesday, August 20, IndieWire was present at the premiere of “Adam Sandler: Love You” in New York City. After the release of his 2018 stand-up special “Adam Sandler: 100 percent Fresh,” the comedian and actor is back on Netflix with his most recent offering, which was directed by none other than Josh Safdie.

Reunited with one of his “Uncut Gems” directors, Sandler explained to IndieWire that working with Safdie again on this special was a highly collaborative experience. Sandler told IndieWire, “He was very hands on.”. “As soon as he joined, he had numerous ideas, and I assumed I would just perform a typical stand-up special.”. Josh came up with some different ideas from the act I’ve been working on and all the stuff I had prepared. “.

It was announced at the end of 2018 that Sandler would reunite with the directors of his 2019 crime thriller for a movie called “live baseball.”. The untitled Netflix movie, which the Safdie Bros. co-wrote, was supposed to star the actor and Megan Thee Stallion. Josh Safdie was slated to helm the film alone. It takes place in the realm of sports memorabilia. But the movie was shelved due to the SAG-AFTRA strikes.

In November of last year, Sandler said, “We kind of missed the opportunity of baseball season because of the strike.”. Much of it was going to be filmed while baseball was being played. Therefore, it will require a moment. Right now, we’re working through every detail. I’m not sure when it will occur. “.

Sandler is optimistic that the movie isn’t yet over at the premiere of his new comedy special. “We discussed it today,” Sandler stated. With any luck, it will return. It’s insane, a really cool script, and quite lengthy. Josh keeps up his diligent work ethic. “.

and the get-together with the two Safdie brothers. “And by the way, Benny [Safdie] is in ‘Happy Gilmore 2’ and he’s going to have a juicy part in that,” the statement will shortly continue. I therefore enjoy being [back] with these guys. Netflix is presently producing the sequel.

The original movie’s co-star, Christopher McDonald, claimed to have seen a screenplay earlier this year. “You’re going to love this, McDonald, Adam [Sandler] told me when I saw him about two weeks ago,” the speaker remarked. “I asked, ‘What?’ He replied, ‘How about that?’ and proceeded to display the initial version of Happy Gilmore 2.”. He did show me that, and I thought, “Well, that would be awesome.” Maybe you should remove that from the audio because I don’t want to be a liar. Thus, work is underway. “Dammit, fans deserve it!”.

Reunited with director Noah Baumbach of “The Meyerowitz Stories,” Sandler is working on an upcoming Netflix feature costarring Riley Keough, Laura Dern, George Clooney, and Billy Crudup. It’s great, Sandler remarked, ‘We shot that. “Nathan is cutting it away and really excited, according to our conversation this morning. “.
