A sketch by SNL pokes fun at the Oasis Brothers Feud

Deadline

Today is gonna be the day Liam Gallagher is gonna throw it back to Saturday Night Live.
In a succinct one-liner posted to X earlier this morning, one-half of the brothers in the rock band Oasis reacted to the SNL spoof on “Weekend Update,” featuring Sarah Sherman as him and James Austin Johnson as his brother Noel Gallagher.
The origins of their feud supposedly trace back to when Johnson’s Noel Gallagher made fun of Sherman’s Liam Gallagher’s “crooked nob” that was “bended like Beckham” in front of the Spice Girls in 1993 at the Wembley Stadium.
Since then, the feud has been famously documented, with frontman Liam Gallagher having sued guitarist-songwriter Noel Gallagher and the two lobbing insults at each other for years in the press.
Last month, the group announced a North American leg to their worldwide tour Oasis Live ’25.

Today is going to be the day that Liam Gallagher pays homage to Saturday Night Live.

The SNL parody on “Weekend Update,” which starred Sarah Sherman as him and James Austin Johnson as his brother Noel Gallagher, prompted a brief one-liner that half of the brothers in the rock group Oasis posted to X earlier this morning.

The musician wrote, “Are they meant to be comedians?” Sherman responded, quoting, “LEGEND 🙌!!!!!!!!” in reference to the skit’s extensive use of the term.

The segment, which was introduced by host Colin Jost, starred the two infamously antagonistic brothers who are only able to agree on their preferred cartoon characters and Sex and the City beauties. Sherman’s Liam Gallagher and Johnson’s Noel Gallagher are said to have started their feud in 1993 at Wembley Stadium when Sherman’s Liam mocked Sherman’s “crooked nob” that was “bent like Beckham.”.

Within the three-minute sketch, Johnson belts out a line from Oasis’ hit song “Wonderwall,” implying that the band might go on tour: “We said maybe, if Liam doesn’t act like a baby.” The two also play-fight and stick their tongues out at each other. “.

“Hey, I’m going to win White Boy of the Year Award for moshing out so hard that I really need your tour to work out because I already bought tickets,” Jost exclaimed.

After the two brothers got into a physical altercation in 2009 before a Paris concert that resulted in Noel Gallagher’s departure from the band, Oasis split up for 15 years. Rumors of a reunion started to circulate in the late summer of this year. Frontman Liam Gallagher sued guitarist-songwriter Noel Gallagher after that, and the two have been publicly insulting each other for years. Since then, their feud has been well-documented.

Since their 1991 formation, Oasis has been at the forefront of the “Britpop” movement, with their debut album Definitely Maybe becoming the fastest-selling album in history. 21 million people are on their Spotify list, demonstrating their continued popularity. However, Ticketmaster is having a lot of problems as a result of an increase in demand for concert tickets.

A North American leg of the group’s global tour Oasis Live ’25 was announced last month.
