In Sunday afternoon’s victory over the Titans, Drake Maye had two touchdown passes and two incompletions.
Being more effective than Maye is difficult, and no quarterback in Patriots history has ever been more effective.
Maye completed 21 of 23 passes for 222 yards in a 31–13 victory, setting a new franchise completion percentage of 91–3 percent. Tom Brady’s best performance was 88.5% in a victory over the Jaguars in 2009.
Following the victory, Maye was asked how it felt to have his name inscribed in the New England record book.
Maye remarked, “I left some out there.”. “I could have thrown, but instead I ran. I should have not tucked it a couple of times. I have to spend more time on the back end of the progression. In order to avoid being a “Checkdown Charlie,” I’m attempting to be cautious with the football and challenge it down the field. I’m just attempting to pass it to the guys who are available and making excellent plays. “,”.
When discussing his faith in the Patriots offense, Maye emphasized the need for improvement and gave edge rusher K’Lavon Chaisson credit for assisting them with a fumble return touchdown.
Maye remarked, “I believe we have some more left, and Coach (Josh) McDaniels is challenging us (to do).”. We still have more offensive coaches left, and those coaches are excelling in their roles. We were greatly assisted by that defensive touchdown. “”.
