The White House will host a UFC bout next year as part of events to mark 250 years of American independence, US President Donald Trump has announced.
The president, who is a friend of UFC president Dana White, said: “We are going to have some incredible events, some professional events, some amateur events.”
Trump has attended several UFC events, including UFC 316 in Newark, New Jersey, last month, where he was pictured watching a fight with White.

In 2001, he hosted a UFC fight at Trump Taj Mahal casino in Atlantic City when White was struggling to find a venue.

On Thursday, Trump told a crowd in Iowa that the event would be a “championship fight” with 20,000–25,000 witnesses.

Among the UFC events that Trump has attended are UFC 316 in Newark, New Jersey, where he was photographed watching a bout with White last month.
Speaking to the crowd at the Iowa State Fairgrounds in Des Moines, Trump declared: “We’re going to have a UFC fight. Does anybody watch UFC? The great Dana White. Imagine that we are going to have a UFC bout on the White House grounds. There is a lot of land that we own. “..”.
At the RNC finale, the UFC boss will promote Trump’s “fighter” persona.

“It’s going to be EPIC!” wrote White House press secretary Karoline Leavitt on X after Trump’s announcement confirms the plans.
Trump has been associated with the UFC for over 20 years. When White couldn’t find a venue, he hosted a UFC bout at the Trump Taj Mahal casino in Atlantic City in 2001.
White has supported the president’s political career from the start, referring to Trump as a “fighter” when he endorsed his 2016 presidential campaign.
White called Trump a “tough guy” and “the legitimate, ultimate, American badass of all time” after an unsuccessful attempt on his life last year.
When the United States celebrates its 250th anniversary of independence on July 4th of next year, Trump hinted that the UFC event would be one of many.
