No. 8 No, Notre Dame gets a punt block touchdown. 16 To tie it at 7–7, Texas A&M responds with a wild touchdown.
Texas A&M’s punt unit performed a dismal job of blocking assignments, allowing a free runner to come straight up the middle to block the punt and return it for a touchdown. This key special teams play gave the Irish a 7-0 lead early on the Aggies in the top-25 matchup.
The goal of blocking 101 is to work inside-out, but the Aggies mishandled their assignments and left a player who made it through the A-gap unscathed right to the punter. The Irish maintained their composure with a bouncing ball and completed the play with a scoop-and-score after that.
An 86-yard touchdown from Marcel Reed to Mario Craver, who used a Notre Dame tackle attempt as a slingshot to propel himself further downfield for the touchdown, was Texas A&M’s swift response.
In what appears to be a high-scoring match in South Bend, that tied the score at 7-7.

In overtime, West Virginia defeats Pitt to win the Backyard Brawl.
Rich Rodriguez returned to the rivalry with a 31-24 comeback victory over Pitt in overtime in the Backyard Brawl, which West Virginia won a week after losing to Ohio on the road. West Virginia had a 14-3 lead at the beginning of the second quarter, but Pitt scored 21 straight points to take a 24-14 lead in the fourth. The Mountaineers had to fight back to force overtime in Morgantown, scoring 10 points in the last six minutes of play, including the game-winning touchdown with 11 seconds remaining.
Instead of kicking a field goal, West Virginia decided to go for a fourth and one inside the five in overtime. Their bold move paid off, as they gained the first down and punched it in for the game-winning touchdown two plays later. The Mountaineers won handily in Rich Rod’s first season back in charge after Pitt’s offense regressed on their overtime possession, ultimately throwing an incompletion on the fourth and 24th.
Pitt will be disappointed with their first loss of the season because they fought through WVU’s early attack and appeared to be in complete control halfway through the fourth quarter. They were unable to get it going again in overtime, though, as they became a little too cautious on offense in an attempt to maintain the lead and work clock. Following their upset victory over their rivals at home, West Virginia, meanwhile, bounces back from a terrible road performance against Ohio and enters Big 12 play with some energy.

No. Miami is rushing past No. 5. 18. South Florida.
Half: Miami 28, USF 6.
Miami quarterback Carson Beck has three first-half touchdowns to lead USF at halftime with nearly 300 yards of total offense in a matchup of Sunshine State undefeated teams. Even though the first quarter of the game was postponed for over an hour, Beck scored tosses to Joshua Moore to break up Miami’s opening two possessions. After Byrum Brown’s nation-long pass-without-interception streak came to an end at 253 in the second quarter, the Hurricanes capitalized on a 2-yard touchdown run from Beck a few plays later. With another victory, USF hopes to break into the top 15 after opening the season with nationally ranked victories over Boise State and Florida.

Though it’s only Week 3, this is why Notre Dame vs. Irish’s CFP future seems to depend on their victory over Texas A&M.
Although it is unpleasant to assign a “must-win” designation to a Week 3 game, Notre Dame has little chance of making an impression on the College Football Playoff selection committee outside of Saturday’s game against Texas A&M.
Slotted no. The Aggies (2-0) are the only team left on Notre Dame’s schedule that is currently ranked in the top 25, coming in at number 16 in this week’s AP poll. Navy (2-0) has the potential to improve, but the rest of the slate appears empty. USC (2-0) is in the midst of the pack, grabbing the fifth-most points in the “receiving votes” category.
Although the playoffs have opened up space for teams with multiple losses, Notre Dame’s loss (0-1) leaves no room for error, and there is no assurance that a 10-2 record would be sufficient to secure one of the seven at-large bids. Two teams were automatically crowned conference champions out of the eight teams with two or more losses that advanced to the playoffs the previous season, while the other six had at least one victory over a ranked opponent.
In addition to competing against at-large candidates from the SEC, Big Ten, ACC, and Big 12, Notre Dame may also face a second Group of Five bid given South Florida’s ascent. This fall, the majority of elite programs in those leagues have several chances to win at the top of the rankings.
Though it’s only Week 3, this is why Notre Dame vs. It seems like Texas A&M must win for Irish to have a CFP future.

Texas A&M quarterback Marcel Reed is prepared to permanently shed the run-first moniker following an overhaul of his offseason mechanics.
COLLEGE STATION, Texas — During an interview in mid-August, Aggies starting quarterback Marcel Reed sneaks in bites of fried shrimp while seated in Texas A&M’s expansive athletics cafeteria, which serves everything from hibachi to freshly baked pizza.
The topic of goals keeps coming up in the conversation.
After Texas A&M wasted a chance to win the SEC championship with a 1-3 record at the end of the regular season, Reed wants the school to do better in 2025. He thinks about his missed snap against Auburn last year in the fourth quarter a lot. He must finish his plate and possibly grab a pizza to go. Gaining muscle mass is one of his top priorities.
Reed’s physique belies his generational bulk. He is the grandson of a former NFL offensive lineman and the son of Tennessee State’s all-time top tackler, former Tigers coach Rod Reed. He weighs a trim 6′ 2″ and 182 pounds. “My mom’s genes are in me,” Reed remarked.

Ahead of the LSU game, tensions are rising. Florida. .
The Tigers and Gators aren’t particularly fond of one another, which may be hard to accept. Florida and LSU engaged in friendly banter on the field more than an hour prior to kickoff, as players were just getting loose. Consequently, flags were raised prior to the first kickoff.
All players on both teams have been given a penalty for unsportsmanlike conduct, so those flags might prove to be crucial. This implies that any additional players who receive a penalty for unsportsmanlike conduct will be removed from the game.
There are already indications that this rivalry matchup will be intense. This is particularly true for Florida, who must be upset after losing to USF at home. There is good news for Billy Napier and the Gators: a victory over the Tigers in Death Valley will make up for that. It takes another victory like that to get back on track after Florida last defeated LSU in Baton Rouge in 2016.

Delaware defeats UConn in an overtime thriller to earn their first FBS victory.
After advancing to the FBS level this year, Delaware defeated UConn as a 10-point, 5-point underdog at home on Saturday in an exciting overtime thriller, improving to 2-1 on the season and earning their first victory against an FBS opponent.
Late in the fourth quarter, with a 38-35 deficit, Delaware rallied for a game-winning 43-yard field goal—aided by pass interference on a fourth down. In overtime, they forced a field goal following a third down sack and stopped UConn’s offense on the goal line. On a read option pull by quarterback Nick Minicucci, the Blue Hens made a little program history by punching it in for the game-winning touchdown on their first overtime possession.
Although it’s a significant victory for Delaware in their first season in the FBS, the Huskies have suffered two consecutive heartbreaking overtime losses. They lose in a similarly heartbreaking manner as a double-digit favorite at Delaware, and they are now 1-2 on the season after blowing a late lead against Syracuse and missing the upset last week.

Arch Manning is having trouble opposing. UTEP.
HALF: UTEP 3, Texas 14.
Arch Manning’s initial half against… With one second remaining in the second quarter, UTEP scored a 5-yard touchdown run to give the Longhorns a 14-3 lead. However, for the redshirt sophomore quarterback, it was a pretty bad half. He only completed five out of sixteen passes, gaining 69 yards without a touchdown or an interception. The Miners put constant pressure on him, and Texas’ running attack found it difficult to maintain the Longhorns’ lead. Despite being hailed as the best offense in college football going into the season, this one is still a major work in progress.

During his first carry of the day, Texas running back CJ Baxter sustained an injury that will keep him out of the rest of his team’s game against UTEP, according to the broadcast. After gaining 6 yards, Baxter hobbled up and refused to come back. The Longhorns’ overall depth at the position has been severely harmed by this. Due to an injury, Texas is already without Quintrevion Wisner today.
During fall camp, Baxter tore his right leg’s PCL and LCL, which kept him out of action for the entire 2024 season.

“You don’t have to watch, because Tennessee Twitter is all over it,” stated another program source, keeping even those who don’t watch up to date. “,”.

Georgia Tech defeats Clemson with FG at the buzzer, causing upset.
Final: No. 24, Georgia Tech. 12 Clemson 21.
It’s a total upset. The Yellow Jackets jumped out to an early 13-0 lead, putting Dabo Swinney’s Tigers on notice right away. The home team got the final laugh, even though Clemson came back to tie the game with 3:26 remaining. As time ran out, Aidan Birr made a 55-yard field goal attempt on a fire drill, sending the Bobby Dodd Stadium crowd into a frenzy of joy.
The Yellow Jackets are 7-1 against, marking yet another significant win for Brent Key as he works to turn his program into an ACC contender. ACC opponents ranked by AP under his direction. The previous season included several victories in the top 25, a few near misses, and the triumph over No. The Yellow Jackets’ season was capped off by 4 Miami in November of last year. The first test for Purdue’s new roster is against… The USC.
Now that we have the transfer portal, roster changes are routine. However, the extent of Purdue’s change is astounding.
Prior to the 2025 season, the Boilermakers brought in 82 new players as part of one of the most comprehensive roster rebuilds in college football history, primarily due to necessity. Of all Power Four programs this year, 52 of them arrived through transfers.
They had to deal with the logistical challenge of overseeing a never-ending cycle of recruiting pitches and visits as soon as first-year coach Barry Odom and first-time general manager Brandon Lee arrived in West Lafayette. While trying to replenish a whole roster, travel schedules had to be weighed against competing offers in a chaotic portal market.
The new Purdue roster, which added 82 players this offseason, will be put to the test for the first time against USC.

Thomas of OU was ejected and missed the first half against. Week 4: Auburn.
In addition to being suspended for the first half of the crucial Week 4 matchup with Auburn, Oklahoma defensive lineman R Mason Thomas was ejected from Saturday’s Week 3 game at Temple for a targeting penalty. When Oklahoma opens conference play in what should be a top 25 matchup with Tigers quarterback (and former OU signal-caller) Jackson Arnold returning to Norman, they will be without an All-SEC standout, but his absence for the remainder of this week’s game is probably not a setback—the Sooners were leading 28-3 when he left.
Upon review, officials concluded that Thomas’ third-quarter hit on Temple quarterback Evan Simon, which was initially flagged for roughing the passer, escalated to the level of targeting.
See below for more details.

Brendan Bett, a redshirt sophomore defensive lineman, will miss “a little bit of time” as the Gators get ready to play No. 3. Tiger Stadium, LSU. After being flagged and ejected for spitting on Bulls offensive lineman Cole Skinner during Florida’s 18-16 loss to South Florida in Week 2, Bett’s status had been in doubt.
The incident was out of character for Bett, as Napier emphasized earlier this week.
According to Napier, “Look, I think that the kid is remorseful,”. “I believe he believes he failed the team. Generally speaking, he made a mistake and jeopardized the team, which was inconsistent with his character. He chose to act selfishly. He gave false impressions of the university, our supporters, and our alumni. “..”.
Prior to his ejection, Bett had contributed to Florida’s first two games, playing 15 snaps with three tackles against LIU and 29 snaps with five tackles against USF. The duration of Bett’s hold against LSU is uncertain.

Wisconsin is under the jurisdiction of Alabama.
FINAL: Not at all. 19 Wisconsin 14, Alabama 38.
With the help of two interceptions from safety Bray Hubbard, five touchdown passes from Ty Simpson, and a standout performance from wideout Ryan Williams, the Crimson Tide easily defeated the Badgers. At one point in his explosive 24-of-29 performance for 389 yards, Simpson had 12 straight completions, including two bows to Williams and Germie Bernard. Williams had his first 100-yard performance since the victory over Georgia last season, finishing with five catches for 165 yards.
The Crimson Tide responded to the defensive staff’s challenge by recording their first three sacks of the season, forcing the problem at the line of scrimmage against the Badgers. Since losing to Florida State in the first game of the season, Alabama has outscored the opposition 111-14. DeBoer expressed gratitude for his team’s response in last week’s 73-0 victory over ULM, and the Crimson Tide’s early three-touchdown lead against Wisconsin demonstrated that they were once again prepared right away.

Ryan Williams, a wide receiver for Alabama, has returned. In Alabama’s Week 3 matchup against Wisconsin, the Crimson Tide star is playing at a high level for the first time since sustaining a concussion during Alabama’s season-opening loss to Florida State. He just had a fantastic catch-and-run that brought back memories of his highlight catch in Alabama’s victory over Georgia last season after scoring a 75-yard touchdown to start the second half.
Williams immediately cut back after catching a ball from quarterback Ty Simpson close to the sideline, forcing two Wisconsin defenders to hit the turf. Georgia Tech’s number one spot. At halftime, 12 Clemson.
Half: Clemson 7, Georgia Tech 13.
Cade Klubnik’s sneak from inside the 1-yard line with 49 seconds remaining in the second quarter puts the Tigers on the scoreboard. The decision was upheld after a video review showed that the Yellow Jackets had stuffed Clemson’s quarterback at the goal line on the previous snap. The Tigers had a goal-to-go situation after Klubnik hit Bryant Wesco on third down inside the red zone over the middle on a slant. Georgia Tech had a 13-0 lead and had dominated the first half of the ACC opener for both teams.
The Yellow Jackets’ two field goal attempts (40, 42) were made by Aidan Birr, and their five-play, 65-yard scoring drive was completed by Jamal Haynes’ 5-yard plunge on the opening play of the second quarter. Haynes King, the quarterback for Georgia Tech, was a game-time decision. He has 28 yards on the ground and is 12 of 16 passing for 129 yards. Georgia Tech, under Brent Key, has defeated ranked teams six times in a row. But the Yellow Jackets haven’t defeated Clemson in nine games since 2014.

Remarkably, Kluse’s first touchdown of his career came from the catch.

Balling out early against Central Michigan is Bryce Underwood.
The no. A 2025 recruit made a strong start to Michigan’s in-state matchup against the Chippewas by showcasing his dual-threat skills. Underwood gave the Wolverines a 14-0 lead just after the half of the first quarter with his first highlight of the day, a perfectly thrown ball to Semaj Morgan for a 32-yard touchdown.
Underwood’s skill at rushing is a big part of his appeal. Although the athletic quarterback is more of a pocket passer by nature, he is also a fantastic runner for his size, as evidenced by his 20-yard scamper that led to Michigan’s third touchdown of the half. He made it 21-0 Wolverines early in the second frame by taking a designed keeper to the house.

The Six Pack: Florida vs. Notre Dame and LSU vs. Tom Fornelli’s and Texas A&M are locked for Week 3.
I explained in last week’s Six Pack that poor early-season play had caused unders to cash at an absurd rate (57.6%) during the first week of the season, averaging 5 points below the final total. In Week 2, I also warned you not to expect that to be the case.
The over recovered significantly last week, so if we included that prediction in my selections, I would have gone 5-2 rather than 4-2. Last week, the over went 76-57, cashing at a rate that was almost the same as the unders’ previous one (57point 1 percent). The average game, however, only finished 1 point 88 points higher than the stated total. The reason is that the books changed.
Games in Weeks 0 and 1 had an average total of 53.43. It fell to 52point 45 in Week 2. Not enough to fill the whole void, but enough to serve as another reminder that something doesn’t always work the next week just because it did the week before. Because of what transpired, the books are constantly changing, and we are unable to take a different approach.
