The Academy Museum of Motion Pictures hosted its fifth annual gala at the Academy Museum in Los Angeles last night in support of the museum’s education initiatives, public programming and future exhibitions.
This year’s Gala raised over $12 million in donations for the general public and the local community of Los Angeles.
The gala was presented in partnership with Rolex, a founding supporter and official watch partner of the Academy Museum.
The gala was co-chaired by Jon M. Chu, Common, Viola Davis, Julius Tennon, Robert Downey Jr., Susan Downey, Jennifer Hudson and Academy Museum Trustee Alejandro Ramírez Magaña.

In support of its educational programs, public programming, and upcoming exhibitions, the Academy Museum of Motion Pictures held its fifth annual gala at the Academy Museum in Los Angeles last night. The Gala this year brought in over $12 million for the benefit of the general public and the Los Angeles community.
The Academy Museum’s official watch partner and founding supporter, Rolex, collaborated to present the gala. Common, Julius Tennon, Viola Davis, Jon M. Chu, and Robert Downey Jr. co-chaired the gala. Alejandro Ramírez Magaña, a trustee of the Academy Museum, Jennifer Hudson, and Susan Downey.
For their past and present contributions to film, the event recognized four significant voices in the entertainment industry. Director Walter Salles received the Luminary Award from Wim Wenders, the evening’s first presenter. During the evening, Zoe Saldaña gave the Icon Award to actress Penélope Cruz, while Jon M. Chu gave the Vantage Award to comedian and actor Bowen Yang. Martin Scorsese gave Bruce Springsteen the last honor, the first-ever Legacy Award.
Bruce Springsteen ended the event with a musical performance that George Clooney introduced, singing “Streets of Philadelphia,” “Atlantic City,” and “Land of Hope and Dreams.”. “”.
UAP manufactured the Icon, Legacy, Luminary, and Vantage Awards, which were created by the Haas Brothers. Hand-polished, hand-stamped, and triple-plated in nickel, copper, and 24k gold, the awards are made of solid cast bronze.
Keith Baptista was the creative force behind the event’s design, and Special Projects managed talent relations.
