We anticipate these players to have at least some more opportunities, but we’ll have to wait and see how far down the depth chart Ohio State goes on Saturday.

After two weeks of the 2025 college football season, Ohio State and Ryan Day should be pleased with their current situation. The highly regarded Buckeyes are 2-0 following a resounding victory over overmatched Grambling State and a close victory over Texas.

The Scarlet and Gray on either side of the ball were too strong for the Tigers to match. Ohio State started the game with the ball and advanced down the field. The Buckeyes finished nine out of eleven possessions in the end zone, barely stopping their scoring. Regaining their defensive dominance, the Scarlet and Gray held Grambling State to 166 yards and 10 first downs, earning their first shutout since November of last year. Ohio State maintained their level of play even after the backups came on early in the second half.

Despite the encouraging beginning, Day is preventing his team from getting ahead of themselves. Considering that the Scarlet and Gray haven’t done anything this year, he has emphasized the necessity of steady progress. He hopes that every game and every play will feature the same kind of play as when the Tigers or Longhorns are playing.

On Saturday, Ohio State will play an in-state game in Ohio at Ohio Stadium. Before defeating West Virginia at home last weekend, the Bobcats had a strong start to the season, coming close to defeating Rutgers on the road in Week 1. Day has talked about how the players at OU, many of whom are from Ohio and have aspirations of playing for the Buckeyes or at the Horseshoe, will be inspired to achieve yet another astonishing outcome against the Scarlet and Gray this week.

Before Ohio State has its off weekend next week, concentrate on each week and the current mission. After they take care of business on Saturday, the Buckeyes will have time to prepare and assess how the early portion of the season has gone.
