The DEI initiatives were dropped by Harley- Davidson

Jalopnik

Recently, a bunch of right-wing cretins decided Harley-Davidson was too woke and began organizing a boycott.
It would be great to be able to tell you Harley-Davidson told those human shitstains to go kick rocks, but that’s not what happened.
Instead, Harley announced yesterday that it will bow to the bigots.
In a statement released on Twitter, Harley said, “We are saddened by the negativity on social media over the last few weeks, designed to divide the Harley-Davidson community.
As a Company, we take this issue very seriously, and it is our responsibility to respond with clarity, action and facts.
“We believe having both a broad employee and customer base is good for business and that ultimately everybody should experience the joy of riding a Harley-Davidson.
Even worse, it doesn’t appear to have done anything to placate the Twitter trolls who got this whole thing started in the first place.
It’s an embarrassing, cowardly decision, and honestly, maybe the CEO really should be fired.

NEGATIVE

Recently, some right-wing cretins decided that Harley-Davidson was too progressive and started planning a boycott. It was inevitable that Fox News would jump on the boycott bandwagon and incite the rest of the cult to demand that the motorcycle manufacturer abandon its diversity, equity, and inclusion policies. Though it’s not true, it would be amazing if we could claim Harley-Davidson told those human shitstains to go kick rocks. Harley, however, declared yesterday that it will give in to the bigots.

“We are saddened by the negativity on social media over the last few weeks, designed to divide the Harley-Davidson community,” Harley said in a statement posted on Twitter. It is our duty as a Company to address this matter with facts, clarity, and action. We take this very seriously. We started an internal stakeholder review earlier this year in order to better match Company operations with the demands of our business and community. “.

The statement continued by detailing how the business had eliminated hiring quotas, terminated its DEI program in April, and would no longer be pursuing supplier diversity objectives. Additionally, it will stop employee development groups from participating in the Human Rights Campaign’s scoring system, reassess sponsorships and affiliations, and concentrate on professional development. Furthermore, employee training will only cover what is required by law going forward.

“We think it’s beneficial for business to have a diverse workforce and clientele, and that everyone should eventually be able to enjoy the thrill of riding a Harley-Davidson. As we proceed on our journey as the most desirable motorcycle brand in the world, we remain dedicated to listening to every member of our community, the statement said.

It is unclear how precisely Harley believes that having “a broad employee and customer base” fits in with its decision to bow to bigots, but one thing is for certain: the executives at Harley-Davidson are a bunch of cowards. Worse yet, it doesn’t seem to have satisfied the Twitter trolls who initially sparked the entire controversy. They’re still angry, if you look at the replies underneath the post. It’s past the hour. That’s insufficient. It’s acting-oriented. The CEO would be fired if they truly meant it. You comprehend.

Ultimately, everyone is upset, including (presumably) the executives who believed they could just appease the enraged crowd and put an end to the whole situation. Really, maybe the CEO ought to be fired for making such a shameful and cowardly decision. Just not for the reason that the weirdos want to be creepy.
