This was well before the Honda Aircraft Company even existed: it wasn’t incorporated until 2006.
By 2018, the HondaJet Elite hit the skies and in 2022, the Elite II was introduced.
Advertisement Honda’s Elite II carries up to two crew and six passengers, or seven passengers plus one pilot.
Elite II can fly further than its predecessor, with a beefed-up fuel capacity that allows a 1,780-mile range.
According to Honda’s emailed response to our question, the base price of a new Elite Jet II is $6.95 million.
Honda Motor Company Ltd. is the seventh-largest revenue earner in Japan, with $147.4 billion in 2024. Even though all businesses must begin somewhere, it’s still difficult to believe that this one began as a bicycle auxiliary engine manufacturer in 1948. It expanded into Honda’s numerous motor-driven products in the years that followed, including outboard engines, automobiles, motorcycles, and the clever little electric N-Vans, as well as entertainment and mobility robots and even aircraft.
Jet engine research and development was initiated by Honda in 1986. The Honda Aircraft Company wasn’t even incorporated until 2006, so this was long before it existed. Before launching the HondaJet light business jet in 2015, Honda had to wait a few years to get its first aircraft into production.
The HondaJet became the most delivered aircraft in its category for five years thanks to its spacious cabin, fuel efficiency, and flying performance, which won over the aviation industry. The HondaJet Elite began flying in 2018, and the Elite II followed in 2022. Honda had made a name for itself as one of the top producers of private aircraft.
With an aluminum wing and composite fuselage, the Elite II is a “light business jet” similar to the original HondaJet. Its over-the-wing engines offer several benefits, including more passenger space inside and luggage space in the tail cone due to the lack of structural support required to mount an engine on the fuselage or tail. Moreover, removing an aircraft’s engines from the fuselage lessens vibration and noise in the cabin.
The Honda Elite II can accommodate seven passengers plus a pilot, or two crew members and six passengers. It offers improvements over the previous Elite in terms of both performance and appearance. Because of their improved aerodynamics and increased fuel efficiency, the two GE Honda HF120 turbofan engines, which were developed in partnership with General Electric Aviation, enable HondaJets to outperform their rivals in terms of speed. The Elite II has a top cruise speed of 486 mph, while similar small jets have top cruise speeds of 390 to 472 mph. Because of its improved fuel capacity, which enables a 1,780-mile range, the Elite II can fly farther than its predecessor. It can cruise at 43,000 feet instead of the more common 39,370 feet, which is higher than other vehicles in its class.
The Elite II enhanced the HondaJet’s comfort and appearance by adding luxurious hardwood flooring, marble accents, and nine stylish exterior and two elegant interior color options. Pilots may have sheepskin covers on their seats. Honda claims that the bathroom is a spacious, light, and welcoming area with skylights. When the seat belt light turns on, Elite II passengers don’t even need to go back to their seats because there is a seatbelt in the restroom for when turbulence occurs while they are traveling.
The price varies depending on the options chosen, but how much does all of this fanciness, roominess, speed, and delicious privacy cost? The base price of a new Elite Jet II is $6.95 million, as per Honda’s email response to our inquiry.
