Asus is updating three of its gaming laptop lines with configurations featuring the new GeForce RTX 5060 GPU, offering features like Multi Frame Generation for higher framerates at slightly lower prices.
The new Asus TUF Gaming laptops also come in a variety of sizes and flavors, all now equipped with less costly RTX 5060 configurations than just their current RTX 5070 configurations.
The simplest update is for Asus’s ROG Zephyrus G14 laptop, which is getting a $1,799.99 configuration with RTX 5060 graphics.
But, of course, if you want to get the most graphics power out of this compact gaming laptop you’ll have to plug in its hefty charger with reversible proprietary connector.
Since all of these laptops are equipped with the RTX 5060, they’re compatible with Nvidia’s DLSS 4 and Multi Frame Generation.
Asus is introducing new GeForce RTX 5060 GPU configurations for three of its gaming laptop lines. These configurations offer features like Multi Frame Generation to increase framerates at marginally reduced costs. The powerful ROG Strix G16 and G18, the compact ROG Zephyrus G14 hybrid gaming/creation laptop, and the entry-level TUF Gaming A14, A16, A18, and F16 will all get Nvidia’s mid-range graphics.
That’s seven brand-new Asus laptops. Additionally, the new configurations can be between $300 and $400 less expensive than their 5070 counterparts, as the 5060 has emerged as each line’s new entry-level card. The new 5060 models range in price from $1,499 to $2,099 for slightly higher configurations (with faster CPUs, more RAM, and more storage).
Both the high of $2,099.99 and the low of $1,499.99 are found in the ROG Strix G16. With their 16- and 18-inch 2560 x 1600 240Hz screens and the same wraparound RGB light bars integrated into their chassis, the Strix G16 and G18 resemble less expensive versions of their more expensive Strix Scar counterparts. In contrast, the more basic Strix G models lack a fancy lid with animated LEDs and use IPS panels rather than Mini LEDs. 16GB or 32GB of RAM, up to 2TB of storage, and Intel (Raptor Lake Refresh / Arrow Lake) or AMD (Dragon Range / Fire Range) chip options are available for the new RTX 5060-equipped G16 and G18.
Due to their large size (the 18-inch model can weigh up to seven pounds), Strix laptops are packed with ports, such as HDMI 2.1, Ethernet, a 3point 5mm audio jack, five USB ports for Intel models (three USB-A, one USB-C, and one Thunderbolt 4), and four USB ports for AMD configurations (two USB-A and two USB4).
In addition to being available in a range of sizes and flavors, the new Asus TUF Gaming laptops are now outfitted with less expensive RTX 5060 configurations rather than just their existing RTX 5070 configurations. Similar to Strix G models, the TUFs are fairly large laptops designed for gaming, but they sacrifice some features to meet specific price points. For example, the TUF A18 has five USB ports, but it only has an outdated USB 2.0 plug. (I know it’s heresy. ().
You can get the 16-inch TUF F16 and the 18-inch TUF A18 for $1,599.99. The F16 has an Intel Core Ultra 9 275HX (Arrow Lake) CPU, while the A18 has an AMD Ryzen 7 260 (Hawk Point) CPU. The TUF A14 and TUF A16 will be available for $1,699 at this time. The 14-inch model has an AMD Ryzen AI 7 350, which is the same Krackan Point chip that I recently tested on the Framework Laptop 13, while the 16-inch model has the same Ryzen 7 260 as its larger 18-inch sibling.
The ROG Zephyrus G14 laptop from Asus, which will get a $1,799.99 configuration with RTX 5060 graphics, will receive the most straightforward update. Asus’s slimmer gaming laptop, the Zephyrus, is more traditional in style and ideal for traveling. It also doesn’t look completely out of place in a cafe or library.
A 14-inch 2880 x 1800 120Hz OLED screen, AMD Ryzen AI 9 270 CPU, 16GB of RAM, 1TB SSD, one USB4, one USB-C, two USB-A, HDMI 2.1, and a 3.5mm audio jack are all features that remain present in the laptop, which was redesigned back in early 2024. Similar to the recently updated models from CES that use more powerful RTX 50-series GPUs, its USB-C ports have been slightly upgraded to enable Power Delivery charging on both sides. Of course, you must plug in this gaming laptop’s heavy charger with a reversible proprietary connector if you want to maximize its graphics power.
These laptops are compatible with Nvidia’s DLSS 4 and Multi Frame Generation because they all have the RTX 5060. Although some models are currently offered for sale on Asus’s website and in a few select stores, all configurations should be fully available by June.
