The Apple TV 4K could see its biggest software update yet with the introduction of tvOS 19.
The streamer is getting its first big user-interface overhaul since the platform launched, according to a report.
Despite the conference not happening for another two weeks, an early report from a reputable Apple insider could hint at what we can expect from tvOS 19.
Notably, this will be the Apple TV’s first operating system overhaul since tvOS launched on the 2015 Apple TV HD.

With the release of tvOS 19, the Apple TV 4K may receive its largest software update to date. A report claims that the streamer is undergoing its first significant user interface redesign since the platform’s debut.
At its annual WWDC (Worldwide Developer Conference), scheduled for June 9th, Apple is expected to unveil the upcoming version of its software ecosystem, which includes iOS, iPadOS, and—most importantly—tvOS.
Even though the conference won’t take place for another two weeks, a reliable Apple insider’s early report may give us a preview of what tvOS 19 will bring.
Mark Gurman of Bloomberg, who has accurately forecasted a number of Apple product releases in the past, including the release of the iPad Pro M4, claims that the company’s Vision Pro mixed reality headset will greatly influence the design of the upcoming smart TV user interface.
The new look is sleeker and more contemporary, Gurman says. A “more translucent, glass-like interface, possibly featuring depth effects and adaptation to ambient lighting or other environmental cues” is what the development name “solarium” might imply, according to FlatpanelsHD.
The operating system change will be the first for the Apple TV since tvOS debuted on the 2015 Apple TV HD.
Not only is tvOS reportedly undergoing a redesign, but Apple’s iPhone and iPad operating systems may also reflect these changes.
Please remember that these are pre-release claims and should be regarded with caution. As far as we are aware, nothing is official until Apple actually makes the announcement, and a lot can happen in the background between now and WWDC.
This news follows closely behind the release of Google’s Android TV 16, which looks to be a slight improvement over the current Google TV version with a small design change at its core.
