PHILADELPHIA (WPVI) — Human remains have been found amid the search for missing Philadelphia woman Kada Scott, police said Saturday.
The discovery was made behind an abandoned school near Awbury Arboretum in Germantown, an area that was the focus of an intensive search on Wednesday.
The remains, which Stanford said appeared to be those of a female, were found in a shallow grave in a heavily wooded area.

When asked why the DA’s office didn’t petition for a higher bail, Krasner said it was a strategic decision not to bother judges overnight.
PHILADELPHIA (WPVI) — Police said Saturday that they had discovered human remains while searching for Kada Scott, a missing Philadelphia woman.
An extensive search was conducted on Wednesday in the Germantown neighborhood behind an abandoned school close to Awbury Arboretum, where the discovery was made.

According to Stanford, the remains were discovered in a shallow grave in a densely forested area and seemed to be those of a female.
By late afternoon, the remains were taken from the site. In addition to identifying the person who was discovered, the medical examiner’s office is currently handling the remains.
According to Stanford, Scott’s family has been contacted by investigators.

Scott’s debit card and a phone case were among the tangible evidence that police reportedly discovered at the scene during their search on Wednesday.
Following the announcement of the arrest of Keon King, 21, of Southwest Philadelphia, who authorities claim was the last person to have contact with Scott, police say tips had been pouring in.
In relation to Scott’s disappearance, King has been taken into custody and charged with kidnapping and other crimes.

Although they are still investigating how King and Scott knew one another, police think they first interacted in the days leading up to the disappearance.
Although Scott had reported being harassed prior to her disappearance, it is unclear whether King was the one allegedly harassing her.

When questioned about why the DA’s office didn’t ask for a higher bail, Krasner explained that it was a calculated move to avoid troubling judges right away.
“You can attempt to make what is typically a telephone appeal to a municipal court judge at midnight or three in the morning,” Krasner said. “Unfortunately, some judges—though not all of them—do not want to be called unexpectedly in the middle of the night. Additionally, the bail is lowered if you do. Not only do they not leave it, they do not raise it. They bring it down. Thus, it is always a strategic, intricate choice. “..”.
