With Keeper, developer Double Fine has made a comeback four years after Psychonauts 2 was released. This October, the third-person action-adventure game will be released for PC and Xbox Series X/S. It follows the enigmatic journey of a lighthouse that suddenly becomes sentient.
On a far-off island in the shadow of a mountain, where a dilapidated lighthouse still stands, Keeper embarks on his journey through an evocative post-human world. For reasons that are still unknown, its ancient masonry suddenly comes to life and acquires legs. With the help of an inquisitive seagull, it then sets out toward the approaching mountain.
The subsequent odyssey, according to Double Fine, is a “story told without words” that combines puzzle-solving, exploration, and “unexpected departures from reality.”. The lighthouse discovers how to use its beam of light to influence the world’s plants and animals and to repel enigmatic tendrils as it travels. To clear the way ahead, its bird companion can communicate with antiquated systems.
“Together, these two unlikely friends set off together on an epic adventure,” said Double Fine in its announcement, “a journey that will take them into realms beyond understanding, an odyssey of mystifying metamorphosis.”. “,”.
In case that has aroused your interest, Keeper will be available on October 17th for PC, Xbox Series X/S, and Game Pass.
