Jenin’s current situation is intolerable. Our impacted diplomats have been contacted by me. Human rights must always be upheld, and diplomats must be permitted to carry out their duties. A thorough investigation is required, and those at fault ought to face consequences.
Michael Martin, the prime minister of Ireland.
The fact that the [Israeli forces] opened fire on a group of diplomats who were visiting the town of Jenin today shocks and appalled me greatly. Fortunately, no one was harmed or killed.

Antonio Tajani is the foreign minister of Italy.
We demand an immediate explanation from the Israeli government. The intimidation directed at diplomats is intolerable.

Threatening diplomats is not appropriate; they should be allowed to carry out their duties. In addition to condemning the shooting, we have asked Israeli authorities for clarification and are thinking about taking additional action.

Foreign Minister and Deputy Prime Minister Maxime Prevot of Belgium.
A Belgian colleague was among the 20 diplomats who were shot by the Israeli army today, which shocked me. Thankfully, he is doing well. Together with the Israeli army, these diplomats traveled to Jenin on an official mission in a convoy of 20 easily identifiable cars. Belgium is requesting a convincing explanation from Israel.

In coordination with the Israeli army and the Palestinian Authority, the group was visiting the West Bank as part of its diplomatic mission. As impartial observers on the ground, diplomats play an essential role and do not pose a threat to Israeli security interests.
The Israeli government needs to look into the situation right away and respect diplomats’ right to privacy.
