20 people were injured and four where pronounced dead on the scene of a shooting at a bar and grill in Beaufort County early Sunday, according to local law enforcement.
Around 1 a.m., deputies with the Beaufort County Sheriff’s Office were called to Willie’s Bar and Grill on St. Helena Island in response to multiple reports of a shooting, the sheriff’s office announced later Sunday morning.
Once on scene, deputies learned that hundreds of people were at the location when the shooting occurred and several had been shot.
“This is a tragic and difficult incident for everyone,” the sheriff’s office said in a statement.
The circumstances of the shooting are still under investigation, according to deputies, and the sheriff’s office has persons of interest.

According to BCSO, the victims’ names will not be made public just yet, but the Beaufort County Coroner’s Office may do so after informing the victims’ relatives.
